What are you thankful for today?

Faith, Just for Fun, Staying Healthy

The first year my husband and I dated we started a “Gratitude Jar”. We placed little notes in it all year. On these notes, we wrote things we were grateful for, as well as little notes to each other and occasions we wanted to remember. On New year’s eve of that year, we opened our jar and read everything together. It was so much fun! It was especially fun one year because my husband secretly had

a “last note” that he handed me to read, and it said: January 1 The day I asked you to marry me and you said Yes. We started our new gratitude jar, and our new life, that day.

It’s nice to remind yourself of the things you’re grateful for. It may sound trivial, but when you look back at the jar full of wonderful things, it makes you appreciate them all over again. The more gratitude we feel in our hearts, the better equipped we are to handle moments of frustration, when we can easily forget, or hastily make poor decisions.

Start Each Day with a Grateful Heart

Just get a jar, or something similar, preferably with a lid (if you’re like me, with kids and cats). Make it your own, by either decorating it or tying some special ribbon on it, whatever you like. Whenever you get the urge, jot down a little note with the date on it, and put it in the jar. We write all kinds of things, like dates to remember, sweet nothings to each other, prayers we hope to see answered. The hard part is No Peeking until it’s time to open the jar together! Trust me, It will be worth it!
